I do play actual drums as well as love playing rockband. It’s a fun way to rock out with friends who can’t play guitar for real.

seriously, it’s just a game dude. Just people trying to have some fun. I have one and it great, and it has really helped me with real drumming. It’s a great tool for learning technique and new songs without the noise or complexity of other acoustic or electric drums.

if you read more of the article, you will notice that it is a real electric drum set as well. You can purchase the Alesis drum simulating computer to hook up to it and there you have it! A real drum set. So no its not for people who like to make AI characters do things instead of doing it themselves, its for people who can’t afford to buy an acoustic kit or already enjoy playing drums and just want to have fun on their console as well. It just makes it more challenging and realistic.

Just so you know, that picture is not actually the ION Drum Rocker. That’s an actual electronic drum set. The Drum Rocker looks similar to that, though. Notice the actual drum brain rather than the game controller module.

I’m pretty sure the game is just for entertainment. It’s fun. It’s something you can pick up and play and then put down in one night. Don’t worry, it’s not going to replace you or real musicianship any time soon.

I still think that a real drum set would be better than a drum machine.

I think I’ve found my own answer. Judging from the illustration I see in your post here (as of 09-29-08, anyway), I’m guessing you refer to this:

To let you know, this drum set can also be used as a real one. And some people enjoy playing with their friends who are musically inept.
